# Objective Pools

Objective pools provide a weighted selection of reusable objectives. A periodic task or scroll can draw several objectives from a pool, so players receive different combinations without needing a separate configuration for every combination.

## Configuration

`pools/<id>.yml` maps enabled objective-template IDs to positive integer weights:

```yaml
enabled: true
quests:
  miner: 10
  coal: 10
  iron: 8
  gold: 5
  redstone: 7
  diamond: 2
```

The total must fit a signed 64-bit integer. Zero/fractional weights are invalid here. Periods/scrolls use `source: {pool: mining, count: 2}`. Count defaults to 1, must be an integer from 1 to 45, and cannot exceed available templates. Draws are weighted without replacement. Selected templates supply their own objective amounts.

Periods create separate assignments; scrolls combine drawn/fixed objectives into one task. Unknown references, invalid weights, or insufficient candidates reject loading. Saved generation results are not redrawn by reconnecting. Reward pools use a separate [format](/for-ultimatequest/configuration/rewards.md).
